Howard Sandcliffe Investments (HSi), the partnership between the Howard Group of Cambridge and Sandcliffe Investments, Milton Keynes, has acquired Great Shelford company Fenland Flat Roofing.
The deal is in line with HSi's strategy to develop a Group of businesses operating within the building services sector. The acquisition, completed recently complements other purchases by HSi within the building subcontracting sector. This latest transaction for HSi means that the combined turnover of the Group is now almost £40m delivering annual profits in excess of £6.5m.
Fenland Flat Roofing was formed in Cambridge in 1976 by Peter Bacon and provides advanced specialist roofing systems and water proofing for commercial and residential properties. The business currently operates within a 100 mile radius of Cambridge and some of the firms' previous projects include the HSBC Canary Wharf building, the aircraft museum at Duxford and more recently Highland Homes' Belvedere development on Hills Road in Cambridge.
Together with Managing Director Andy Bacon, HSi plans to grow the business over the medium term and also encourage cross fertilisation within its other building services businesses operating within the fit-out sector.
The existing Fenland management team will remain and this is headed by Andy Bacon, who commented; "I am looking forward to working with HSi's team to develop the business further and explore new growth opportunities. We have enjoyed significant and stable growth in recent years. This latest development will provide a springboard for future growth and enable us to work alongside other businesses within the HSi Group." Fenland has well established relationships with many local and national architects and building contractors. The organisation has positioned itself as a company that can deliver very high quality flat roofing solutions to even the most complex of projects.
Nicholas Bewes, MD at the Howard Group, said; "Fenland is poised for its next level of development and we are excited about working with the team to help move this already highly successful business forward. The company has a well established client base and an excellent order book going into next year and is therefore an ideal basis to grow this business into new regions, develop new contractor relationships and explore other growth opportunities in the sector."
