April 2009
HPG Developments has been successful in securing planning approval for the redevelopment of part of its Raynham Road Industrial Estate in Bishops Stortford.
The company recently demolished two redundant industrial units on the Estate in preparation for the new development of ten B1/B2/B8 industrial warehouse units with associated offices, parking and new landscaping.
The Howard Property Group has owned the Raynham Road site for 8 years and will now embark on a major redevelopment programme for the Estate. The new replacement units to be built will total 12,180 sq ft and HPG Developments is looking to further develop the site and build 8 more units totalling 40,500 sq ft in the future.
Planning approval for this first phase was gained on 8th April from East Herts Council planning committee.
Raynham Road Industrial Estate is occupied by some 40 companies, predominantly light industrial, and located east of the town close to junction 8 of the M11. The Estate supports a number of industries occupying in excess of 120,000 sq ft of space. These include Edmundson Electrical, Kuehne & Nagel, Ensinger, Avio-Diepen and Enterprise plc.
William Jewson, Development Director at HPG, comments: "We are delighted to get planning approval. The redevelopment is in line with our 2009 strategy which is to enhance and maximise our existing investments. We see the Estate as a very important site for both local companies wanting to move or expand and for new companies looking to relocate to the area. The new units will provide high specification accommodation for medium-sized companies supporting the significant level of manufacturing and airport related industries in Bishops Stortford which creates demand for these types of units. We are hopeful the new buildings will benefit growth and expansion within the local business community."
